What Would You Do To Make London A Better Place?

Co-Create London

london.jpg

Since we have seen a tons of sites with social media based, here is another chance to check out one of the great sites, called "Co-Create London."
It is very simple, what you can do is after log in with Twitter or Facebook account, just type your idea for London to make it better place. You are also able to vote for somebody's ideas and add your comments on it.

I'm wishing that those types of sites should be increased and localized for each countries and cities in order to bring better life style in the near future. However, not too far I think.

Web sites connecting w/ social

Recent sites are not just delivering the contents

Recent awarded web sites tend to express the connection of other social sites such as facebook, twitter, and so on. Here in Japan, we rapidly see tons of sites, connecting with twitter these days (finally?), even just crazy fun sites. But it is quite good for exploding the buzz and for making people who are unfamiliar with socialization understand what it looks like and educates somehow.
Facebook, on the other hand, has also strong socialization and communication. It's even increasing 200% from before on recent statistics in Oct 2009. (twitter is dramatically growing on the back though)

What I'd like to point out based on those is that recent sites are obviously not just delivering amazing contents anymore, it tends to be socialized even not a typical social site. Why? answer is simple and obvious, users are not just users anymore.

myspace.jpg

myspace fan video, http://www.myspace.com/fanvideo is simply created and showing user friendly interface, but also delivering high quality and unique movies with your facebook image, those uniqueness can be connecting and have chance to catch more visitors on the site.

startbucks.jpg

Another example is starbuck's love project, explaining of helping fight AIDS by contribution from people. What it is,  is that once you submit either your own video or drawing on web, even both!, starbucks will contribute 5c U.S to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS in Africa which is very special and helpful idea for making people join the love project.

Since the format of web is gradually and dramatically changing the shape, we are also responsible to adjust its format of socialization. This can be helped not just corporations but people in the world by our recent digital technology, those ideas, must be the main point of what we should think first besides budget of course.

The most successful promotion

What a great promotion, The great schlep is

schlep.jpg

Today, we see tons of great online promotions but not still recognized and known yet especially for people not familiar with online. (one of my friends not good at web stuff has just changed to google chrome from IE due to hearing that it's faster processing speed finally..)
But, this is, the one of great successful online promotion, called "THE GREAT SCHLEP" as you might know already.
Check from "CASE STUDIES" from their site.

This is basically the detail and what they mentioned the site:
Elderly Jewish voters are a crucial voting block in Florida. In 2008, this group was beginning to lean towards John McCain. We targeted them in a way they couldn't refuse: by encouraging their pro-Obama grandchildren to visit and talk to them about Obama. We spread the word with a viral video featuring comedienne Sarah Silverman and a website that united, educated and inspired a younger generation to do their part. Millions viewed the video, 26,000 members united online and thousands of media outlets covered The Great Schlep. It was the first time in 12 years a Democratic nominee won Florida.

Here, you might realize that this is the "promotion", we must consider current reality and trying to find out people's satisfaction as well as great success of the promotion. If, it wouldn't be happened and ignored, the president of United States would be different obviously.
This is, again truly amazing and it made me rethink what the point and importance of actual promotion is.
Better try not to forget the concept of this for my career always, always.
